ElevenLabs Script Style
Script quality affects narration before voice selection does. Speech models cannot automatically turn announcement-style prose into engaging narration; punctuation, emotional direction and pronunciation controls all influence delivery.
#Write text that can be spoken
Read the script aloud. If you stumble, run out of breath or cannot find the emphasis, revise it. Keep sentences manageable, give each one a main point, confirm proper names and write numbers, dates and amounts in speakable form.
#Punctuation controls rhythm
Commas suggest short pauses and full stops close a thought. Dashes or ellipses can mark stronger changes. Use exclamation marks sparingly. Support for explicit pause controls such as <break> depends on the model; check its documentation before relying on them.
If delivery feels rushed, check whether the script is too dense before changing voices.
#Use emotional direction selectively
A clear description of delivery can work better than stacking controls. Apply it to important transitions, speaker distinctions and emphasis. Avoid directing every sentence unnecessarily.
#Prepare terminology
Test product names, brands, locations, abbreviations and technical terms before generating the whole piece. Use a pronunciation dictionary where supported. A multilingual voice is not a guarantee that every proper name will be correct.
#Common mistakes
Pasting whole articles, overloading sentences, leaving terminology untested, forcing emotion with punctuation and mixing too many languages can all make delivery unstable.
#Recommended order

- Refine sentence length and rhythm.
- Identify the few statements that need emphasis.
