Scene and Style Control
Build a scene in layers and refine its visual treatment through bounded edits.
#Foreground, subject and background
A foreground element such as a soft petal, desk edge or window frame adds depth. The subject is the focal point. The background establishes environment and mood.
textPlace the product centrally in a modern office, with a city skyline beyond full-height windows, warm sunlight and a small amount of greenery.
Plain backgrounds suit clean products/portraits; interiors provide lifestyle context; outdoor scenes establish place; abstract shapes/light can support concept covers.
#Four style dimensions
Define the medium (photographic, illustrated, 3D or abstract), palette, mood and surface quality.
| Direction | Typical effect |
|---|---|
| Realistic/product/portrait photography | Material detail and identifiable subjects |
| Macro photography | Close detail |
| Flat illustration / low poly | Simplified explanatory or geometric forms |
| Watercolor | Soft painted treatment |
| Cyberpunk | Neon/futuristic treatment |
| 3D render | Volumetric objects and materials |
Choose warm/cool, saturated/restrained or monochrome deliberately. Concrete palette values can anchor a brief, but inspect the exported color rather than assuming exact reproduction.
#Light and mood
Soft light reduces hard shadows; hard light emphasizes contrast; backlight emphasizes contours; side light adds form; overhead or neon lighting creates different focal/mood effects.
Warm spaces can combine natural elements and gentle light. Professional layouts favor clean framing and controlled neutral tones. Technology concepts may use geometry and luminous elements; luxury direction may use dark materials and carefully controlled highlights. Compatible references can communicate these relationships more directly than a word list.
#Example briefs
textSilver headphones floating on a deep blue-purple gradient, subtle sound-wave lines and reflections, minimal technology product treatment, soft multidirectional light, 16:9.
textA person holding a latte beside a cafe window, softly blurred interior and greenery outside, warm natural light, realistic portrait treatment, 4:5.
textAn abstract AI concept: a luminous network at center, dark blue-purple background with sparse data points, controlled cinematic lighting, landscape framing and left title space.
#Time and weather
Morning, midday, golden-hour and night directions imply different light. Clear, cloudy, rainy and snowy settings change contrast, reflections and atmosphere. Use them to support the intended scene rather than adding incompatible effects.
#Practice
Keep a latte as the subject and compare a warm desk/book scene, a clean white-background product close-up and a watercolor interpretation. In another exercise, build headphones from subject, background, light, atmosphere and final ratio in five separate rounds. Compare what each change actually contributes.
