Autocomplete in Windsurf

Daily usefulness depends on accurate, unobtrusive completion rather than an impressive demonstration. Autocomplete extends patterns in the current file using language/types, recent code and function/component structure.

#Completion controls

The source describes single- and multi-line suggestions, accept/cancel/trigger shortcuts, word- or line-level acceptance and speed settings. Check the controls for your current version.

#Suitable tasks

Function skeletons, conditional branches, repetitive UI/tests and typed props or data mappings provide clear patterns. An unfinished React component or test usually supplies more useful direction than an empty file.

#Review carefully

Security-sensitive code, mutations, strict business validation and implementations you have not yet understood need deliberate review. Completion predicts patterns; it does not define business policy.

#Improve the working context

Use meaningful function/variable names and comments. Remove confusing temporary code and unfinished fragments. Accept the useful skeleton, implement critical checks yourself and let completion help with the next local section.

Do not force Autocomplete to diagnose a bug, select files to change or plan a task. Those jobs belong in a task-oriented conversation such as Cascade.
