Bolt.new Deployment Guide
First identify the project's hosting state. The Chinese source describes newer projects using Bolt hosting and older Netlify projects created before 14 August 2025 retaining a separate path. Verify the options in your current project rather than following an old tutorial blindly.
#Choose the purpose
Are you sharing a demonstration, maintaining a project through GitHub/external hosting, or migrating an older Netlify project? These are different release decisions.
| Route | Typical purpose |
|---|---|
| Bolt hosting | Obtain a working URL through its supported workflow |
| GitHub with external hosting | Ongoing engineering and release control |
| Existing Netlify setup | Preserve a team's established hosting route |
#Verify the minimum release
- Publish through an authorized hosting workflow.
- Open the homepage and check for a blank screen.
- Complete the primary user flow.
- Then consider domain and hosting integrations.
Treat publication as a deliberate release step with an agreed scope.
#Common configuration failures
Check the build command, output directory, required environment variables and asset paths. Exported Vite projects can appear deployed while styles fail because the asset prefix does not match hosting.
#Keep secrets out of prompts
Document variable names and purposes in .env.example; keep real values in local or hosting configuration. This also makes switching platforms less disruptive.
#Connect version control early
GitHub is useful when maintaining the project, needing rollback/history, moving hosts or collaborating. Do not wait until the project is difficult to untangle.
#Before calling it live
Verify the homepage, full main workflow, required configuration, public/shared access expectations and the hosting choice for an older Netlify project. A successful deployment indicator alone does not prove someone else can reliably use the prototype.
